About the role
As a Software Product Manager, you will be an active contributor in the software development team, collaborating with business stakeholders, development team members, and end-users to deliver successful software products. You will play a critical role in leading the implementation of software solutions that meet our clients’ needs and support our business goals.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Strategic Collaboration: Work closely with stakeholders to understand the business needs, goals, and requirements for software solutions.
- Product Strategy: Define product strategies and roadmaps to best serve the needs of our customers, our software users, Winona IT’s business, and our development team.
- Evidence-Based Decision Making: Make decisions based on evidence, drawing on user research, usage and performance data, market research and analysis, and technology trends.
- User Advocacy: Champion the needs of our software users throughout the software development lifecycle.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with designers, business analysts, developers, QA and project managers and other roles as applicable, fostering clear communication and alignment on development goals.
- Software Projects:
- Communicate with customers and manage expectations throughout projects.
- Define scopes of work aligned with business goals, user needs and technical feasibility.
- Conduct user research and gather functional and non-functional requirements.
- Define design requirements, validating designs, and building stakeholder buy-in.
- Document business requirements in detailed user stories, use cases and technical specifications.
- Create and maintain roadmaps and project timelines.
- Prioritize development work.
- Collaborate with developers to ensure on time delivery.
- Conduct internal and user-acceptance testing to ensure quality.
- Provide product status updates and release communication.
- Ensure post implementation support, including release notes, training, and support materials are available to users.
- Identify areas for improving the product through customer feedback, usability testing, analytics, and research.
- Stay informed of relevant industry trends and competitive landscape.
- Innovation and Learning: Promote a culture of innovation and learning within the team, encouraging the exploration of new ideas and technologies.
- Domain Expertise: Demonstrate deep understanding of the product’s business domain and users.
- Process Improvements: Identify best practices in software product management and help define and implement process improvements.
Expected Qualifications
- Experience: 1 – 2 years of software Product Management experience, working with Agile teams to build web and/or mobile applications.
- Communication: Strong verbal, written communication, and presentation skills.
- Collaboration: Ability to work effectively with diverse teams.
- Critical Thinking: Demonstrates exceptional critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Attention to Detail: Exhibits a meticulous attention to detail.
- Empathy: Demonstrates empathy for others, especially customers and software users, ensuring their needs and perspectives inform decision-making.

- Software Experience: MS Office, MS Teams, and Azure Devops (or similar software project management tool such as Jira), with a working knowledge of enterprise-level applications.
Nice to Have
- Product Management experience in enterprise SaaS.
- Experience with databases (SQL) and APIs.
- Experience with MS Dynamics.
- Experience in the Insurance, Finance, or E-commerce industries.
